Grant Activity

Conduct research, teach or a combination of teaching and research in any field at an appropriate host institution in Belgium.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.
Grant Length
Three to nine months
Grant Dates

Grants must occur between September 2020 and June 2021. As many grantees apply for only one semester (i.e., three to five months) of funding, scholars who wish to spend an academic year (i.e., nine months) in Belgium should justify the need for this duration in their application.

Locations

Scholars are welcome to submit applications affiliated with any appropriate institution in Belgium, including accredited universities and university colleges, governments, think tanks, and non-profit organizations. Applicants should keep in mind the regional and linguistic divisions in Belgium when identifying locations for their research, and are encouraged to consider affiliations thoughout the country (not just in the capital). The Fulbright Commission seeks to promote diversity among applicants, including geographic and linguistic diversity of placements.
