Grant Activity

Lecturing/teaching/community outreach will be done in consultation with host institution. Conducting/presenting research will ideally be done in collaboration with host institution's staff and/or resources.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.

Three to 10 months
Grant Dates

One-semester grants may begin in September 2020 or January 2021; two-semester grants must begin in September 2020.

Locations

Applicants should arrange affiliation with an Irish institution.

Preference will be given to recommended candidates who seek affiliation with recently established research centers and institutions that have not recently hosted a Fulbright Scholar.

Special Features

The Fulbright Commission in Ireland annually offers Irish institutions an opportunity to contribute to the Fulbright Program through cost-sharing. These arrangements allow the Commission to increase the number of awards available and to maximize institutional involvement in the program.

Scholars are not expected to seek cost-sharing during the application process. The Commission will seek cost-sharing once it receives the panel of recommended Scholars from CIES.
