Grant Activity

The grant is open to all disciplines and can be for a combination of teaching and research or for teaching only.

The scholar will be expected to teach university courses, undergraduate and/or graduate. Generally two full courses should be offered, or one course and shorter seminars/modules. Ideally, he/she will also act as a faculty and/or student advisor and provide input into curriculum development. The scholar will also conduct outreach to wider audiences, as appropriate.

Grants should begin in either late August 2021 or early January 2022.

Areas of Interest

While this award is open to any project in the disciplines listed above, there is interest in scholars who are in these particular specialty areas.

Projects should add something new to Icelandic academia and provide students with opportunities to broaden their knowledge in a particular field, with a specialization not currently available or where fresh insights and new curriculum would be valuable. 

Special Features

Host institutions are expected to assist the U.S. scholar to find suitable housing and settle in.

The host university will be expected to provide social and networking opportunities and assist the scholar in general to ensure a productive and mutually beneficial grant period.
