Award Length
Four months; For Flex grants, see Flex Option section.
Award Dates

Grants must begin in August 2022. For Flex grants, see the Flex Option section. We typically recommend that Fulbright Scholars in The Bahamas time their program to coincide with the university academic year, which matches the U.S. academic year (starting in August, and ending in June).

Though applicants may propose to begin their programs in the spring semester (January 2023), they must demonstrate the concurrence of the host institution and a justification as to why they are choosing to start half-way through the academic year.

All Scholars to the Bahamas are required to attend a pre-departure orientation, which typically takes place in late June 2022, prior to beginning their Fulbright grant.

Flex grant parameters:
• Minimum length of the total grant is four months and the maximum is six months.
• Minimum length for any grant segment is one month and the maximum is three months.
• Two or three grant segments may be spread over one or two consecutive years.
