Grant Activity

Teachers, teacher/researchers and researchers in any area of interest are welcome. Researchers are encouraged to present occasional lectures at institutions throughout Jordan.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary research or teaching activities‎.

Grants may begin any time after September 2018, but must be completed by August 30, 2019.



Any appropriate Jordanian university. Lists of the public and private Jordanian universities can be found below. All host institution affiliations will be confirmed by the Jordanian-American Commission for Educational Exchange.

Special Features

During their grant period, Fulbright U.S. Scholars in the Middle East and North Africa region may apply for a short-term regional travel grant (five to 14 days) for participation in a variety of activities including faculty and student lectures, graduate or faculty seminars, curriculum development, public lectures, panel presentations, needs assessment, conferences, or some combination thereof. Scholars who apply for the Flex award are ineligible for the Regional Travel Program.

Related Awards


Activities related to English language teaching (or training) are strongly preferred. The award is intended for direct teaching (or training) of English to students, as a primary assignment. Additional TEFL teaching activities may include:

Teach two graduate courses and one undergraduate course. Class sizes vary depending on subject matter with 15 to 25 at the undergraduate level and 8 to 15 at the graduate level.


Teach courses and assist the dean and faculty with curriculum revisions.
