Award Activity

Teach for approximately 12 hours weekly or teach for approximately six hours weekly and conduct research. Consult on curriculum, program and faculty development. Conduct seminars and workshops.

Scholars selected for this award will be required to:
  • Advise and/or mentor students
  • Assist in faculty, curriculum, and/or program development
  • Conduct a research project of the applicant’s choosing
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses designated by the host institution
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses of the applicant’s choosing

Four or nine months
Award Dates

Four-month grants should begin in September 2022 or February 2023; nine-month grants should begin in September 2022.

Please note, the academic year is two semesters: September 2022 to January 2023 and February 2023 to May 2023. Grant dates must comply with the host institution's academic calendar.

Locations

Applicant may indicate a preferred host institution and refer in the project statement to the reasons for this preference, citing previous communication with, or knowledge of, the desired host institution in Egypt. Affiliation will be confirmed by the Binational Fulbright Commission in Egypt.

Business is a highly sought field in Egypt. 

Applications are sought in all specializations commonly taught at U.S. business schools, including but not limited to: entrepreneurship and innovation management, general management, finance, economics, human resource management, international management, accounting, marketing, strategic business management, operations and supply chain management, business analysis and social media marketing and management. 

Special Features

During their grant period, Fulbright U.S. Scholars in the Middle East and North Africa region may apply for a short-term regional travel grant (five to 14 days) for participation in a variety of activities including faculty and student lectures, graduate or faculty seminars, curriculum development, public lectures, panel presentations, needs assessment, conferences, or some combination thereof.

Teaching includes classroom teaching, as well as giving guest lectures, workshops, and seminars, and engaging in other related activities. Classroom teaching is typically at the undergraduate and graduate level, and courses may be designed by the scholar or prescribed by the host institution and may be taught or co-taught by the scholar. The teaching load varies by award, as well as the host institution. Scholars may also consult on building research capacity, advise graduate students, and assist with thesis advising.
