Grant Activity

The visiting Scholar would be expected to undertake a research project in the school of Celtic Studies for (ideally) a 6-month period. It would be expected that the Scholar would participate in or attend most SCS activities during this period (e.g. seminars, conferences, etc.) and would interact with academic staff and make sue of our extensive library holdings to complete the project. If deemed feasible, the Scholar could also hold a research seminar to discuss their project and its results. Members of SCS are active in most areas of Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Welsh language and literature.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.
