Award Activity

The U.S. Scholar Program to Russia may operate at a limited capacity through the 2021-2022 academic year. We are accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Community College Faculty Award is open to community college faculty with an MA and a minimum of five years college-level teaching experience after completion of the degree.

The participant will teach courses in area of specialization and may be asked to advise on the development of curricula and new academic programs, and to share innovative pedagogy, including educational technology.

Scholars selected for this grant will be required to attend a mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation in Summer 2022.

Scholars selected for this award will be required to:
  • Advise and/or mentor students
  • Assist in faculty, curriculum, and/or program development
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses designated by the host institution
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses of the applicant’s choosing
Award Length
One or two semesters (9 months maximum), depending on appropriate visa and registration support.
Award Dates

One-semester grants may begin in September 2022 or end of January 2023.

  • Grants starting in September 2022 will be for four months in duration and grants starting in January 2023 will be for four or five months in duration.

Two-semester grants (9 months maximum) must begin in September 2022.

Locations

Any appropriate institution of higher education. Scholars should be open to placement recommendations from the Fulbright Office in Moscow.

Applications are sought in all appropriate specializations, but applications in the following specializations are preferred: health care, including nursing (community, gerontology, social services and in-service training); dental hygiene; physical therapy; energy sector and natural resource management; tourism and hotel management; sport and recreation management; human resource management; adult/continuing education; logistics; manufacturing; and fine arts.

Teaching

Teaching includes classroom teaching, as well as giving guest lectures, workshops, and seminars, and engaging in other related activities. Classroom teaching is typically at the undergraduate and graduate level, and courses may be designed by the scholar or prescribed by the host institution and may be taught or co-taught by the scholar. The teaching load varies by award, as well as the host institution. Scholars may also consult on building research capacity, advise graduate students, and assist with thesis advising.
