Distinguished Chair in Agricultural Technology and Education

Grant Activity

Lead an advanced, one-semester seminar in English for Russian and visiting international students; teach in English an advanced, one-month course in agricultural technology that rotates through three professors in a semester; and give a series of general lectures in English for the wider student body, assisted by an interpreter. The U.S. professor will teach in his/her area of specialization, which could be any area of agricultural technology and education, and will help shape the agricultural technology curriculum and teaching standards in Russian education. Teaching duties would equate to a 1.5 course load for the semester. Courses should focus on agricultural, biological, and environmental engineering systems. 

Scholars selected for this grant will be required to attend a mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation in Summer 2021.

Four to nine months, depending on needs and interests of host institution.
Grant Dates

One-semester grants may begin in September 2021 or early February 2022.

  • Grants starting in September 2021 will be for four months in duration and grants starting in February 2022 will be for four or five months in duration.

Two-semester grants (9 months maximum) must begin in September 2021.

Special Features

In addition to the Fulbright Distinguished Chair award and stipend, Russian State Agrarian University will provide university housing for the scholar and his/her family, an office, and an assistant/interpreter. The host institution will also organize a cultural program for the Fulbright scholar and his/her family in Moscow and the Moscow region. The host institution will support the Fulbright scholar's travel to other Russian universities for conferences and consulting. The host university is the leader in agricultural engineering in Russia, and its alumni are in prominent positions across the country. The host institution will assist the Fulbright scholar in establishing professional contacts in the area of research and education with Russian colleagues from universities associated with the Ministry of Agriculture in Russia.
