Award Activity

The award holder will teach two courses per semester at the American Studies Center, University of Warsaw--one for undergraduates and one for MA students. Each BA course consists of one 90-minute class per week for 15 weeks (at the MA level, some courses consist of 135-minute classes, also once a week, for 15 weeks). The Distinguished Chair will also be expected to give public lectures and generally engage in the academic life of the ASC.

Award Length
Awards are offered for either 4, 5 or 9 months—that is, for a semester or an academic year. One-semester visits last either from October through January or from February through June; two-semester grants begin only in October.
Award Dates

October 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022 or October 1, 2021 - January 31, 2022 or February 1, 2022 - June 30, 2022 Grants may only begin in October or in February.

Teaching

Teaching includes classroom teaching, as well as giving guest lectures, workshops, and seminars, and engaging in other related activities. Classroom teaching is typically at the undergraduate and graduate level, and courses may be designed by the scholar or prescribed by the host institution and may be taught or co-taught by the scholar. The teaching load varies by award, as well as the host institution. Scholars may also consult on building research capacity, advise graduate students, and assist with thesis advising.
