Award Activity

The U.S. Scholar Program to Russia may operate at a limited capacity through the 2021-2022 academic year. We are accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The U.S. professor will teach in his/her area of specialization, which could be any area of agricultural technology and education, and will help shape the agricultural technology curriculum and teaching standards in Russian education. Teaching duties would equate to a 1.5 course load for the semester.

Scholars selected for this grant will be required to attend a mandatory Pre-Departure Orientation in Summer 2022.

Scholars selected for this award will be required to:
  • Advise and/or mentor students
  • Assist in faculty, curriculum, and/or program development
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses designated by the host institution
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses of the applicant’s choosing
Award Length
Four to nine months, depending on needs and interests of host institution.
Award Dates

One-semester grants may begin in September 2022 or early February 2023.

  • Grants starting in September 2022 will be for four months in duration and grants starting in February 2023 will be for four or five months in duration.

Two-semester grants (9 months maximum) must begin in September 2022.

Special Features

In addition to the Fulbright Distinguished Scholar award and stipend, Russian State Agrarian University will provide university housing for the scholar and his/her family, an office, and an assistant/interpreter. The host institution will also organize a cultural program for the Fulbright scholar and his/her family in Moscow and the Moscow region. The host institution will support the Fulbright scholar's travel to other Russian universities for conferences and consulting. The host university is the leader in agricultural engineering in Russia, and its alumni are in prominent positions across the country. The host institution will assist the Fulbright scholar in establishing professional contacts in the area of research and education with Russian colleagues from universities associated with the Ministry of Agriculture in Russia.

Teaching includes classroom teaching, as well as giving guest lectures, workshops, and seminars, and engaging in other related activities. Classroom teaching is typically at the undergraduate and graduate level, and courses may be designed by the scholar or prescribed by the host institution and may be taught or co-taught by the scholar. The teaching load varies by award, as well as the host institution. Scholars may also consult on building research capacity, advise graduate students, and assist with thesis advising.
