Award Activity

Teaching undergraduate-level Economics or Business courses (up to 60% of grant activity):

The Lecturer can choose to teach:

  • Part of two or more courses already established at UAM (option A.1).
  • A new course proposed by the Lecturer (option A.2).

Option A.1: Teach 42 in-classroom teaching hours (equivalent to a whole course) toward the Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Finance (around 60 students in the classroom) and/or Business Administration and Management. The Lecturer can choose to teach parts of courses in any of the following subjects (at least two; detailed syllabi for each course of interest can be obtained from vicedecano.economicas.rrii@uam.es. Specific teaching assignments will be agreed upon once the applicant proposes what he/she would like to teach.)

  1. Public Economics (2nd year BA in Economics and Finance)
  2. Econometrics I (3rd year BA in Economics and Finance)
  3. Financial Econometrics (4th year BA in Economics and Finance)
  4. International Taxation (4th year BA in Business Administration and Management)
  5. Foreign Trade Techniques (4th year BA in Business Administration and Management)
  6. Financial Accounting (1st year BA in Economics and Finance)
  7. Financial Instruments Accounting (2nd year BA in Economics and Finance)
  8. International Corporate Finance (3rd year BA in Economics and Finance)
  9. International Finance (4th year BA in Business Administration and Management)
  10. International Marketing (4th year BA in Business Administration and Management)
  11. International Accounting (4th year BA in Business Administration and Management)

Option A.2: Teach an entire course (42 in-classroom teaching hours), with the topic proposed by the Lecturer. The course should be tailored to upper level students in the final year (fourth) of their undergraduate studies in Economics and/or Business.

Additional Teaching Responsibilities

In addition to option A.1 or option A.2, the visiting professor will give four lectures on topics of his or her choice, which will be offered to all students from the School of Economics and Business Studies. These lectures will be general in nature and offered one time only.

Additionally, the Lecturer will have the opportunity to deliver guest lectures for courses pertaining to the Master’s degree in his or her area of expertise and/or seminars for Ph.D. students.

Research (up to 40% of grant activity) 
Scholars are welcome to contact the university regarding research opportunities that might be in line with the applicant's current research projects. 

Please note that, although much of the online information on the host institution website is in Spanish, most faculty in the School of Economics and Business speak English, and the scholar will only be expected to teach in English. Detailed information about his/her tasks will be provided to candidates in a timely manner and in English, after being selected.

Scholars selected for this award will be required to:
  • Conduct a research project of the applicant’s choosing
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses designated by the host institution
