Fulbright Canada - Pierre Elliott Trudeau Fellowship

Award Activity

Fulbright Canada and the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation (PETF) have established a dedicated Chair in Contemporary Public Policy. This opportunity will allow a U.S. academic and top tier applied researcher to:

1) conduct research for one semester in Montreal, Quebec cohosted by the PETF and a partner university, 
2) participate in the PETF’s Institutes of Engaged Leadership as a facilitator, teacher and/or speaker and take part in planning sessions for the institutes,
3) advise and/or mentor the PETF's doctoral scholars,
4) participate in activities related to the PTEF and Fulbright Canada, including the development and initiation of events and educational activities for members of the public and members of the Foundation’s and Fulbright’s communities.

Fulbright Canada and the PETF seek a leading academic undertaking research in the Social Sciences and Humanities, tied to one of PETF’s four pillars: Human Rights and Dignity; Responsible Citizenship; Canada and the World; and People and their Natural Environment. Candidates should also have expertise relevant to PETF’s scientific theme beginning in 2022: Global Economies.
The Chair will act as a guide and mentor for the next generation of bold, innovative scholars, encouraging their development into public educators with meaningful impact in their communities.

About the PET Foundation

The PET Foundation supports advanced research in the Social Sciences and Humanities while offering doctoral students the opportunity to develop skills as engaged leaders with meaningful impact in their institutions and communities. 

Scholars selected for this award can choose to:
  • Advise and/or mentor students
  • Assist in faculty, curriculum, and/or program development
  • Conduct a research project of the applicant’s choosing
Award Length
Four months in Montreal, Quebec plus an additional 8 months of remote collaboration with the PETF with occasional travel to Canada for workshops or conferences.
Award Dates

September 2022 to December 2022 in Canada. Remote collaboration with the PETF to continue through August 2023, with occasional travel to Canada.
