Fulbright Early Career Research Lectureship at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Trento

Award Activity

The Fulbright Scholar is expected to:

  • carry out research within the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering (DICAM) of the University of Trento
  • give lectures at advanced level (master’s and doctoral students) within the master’s degree courses in Architecture and Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental and Land Engineering, Environmental Meteorology, and the courses offered by the PhD School.

Teaching load may vary from 2 to 4 hours per week depending upon the type of course offered (master’s or PhD level). The total number of hours should not exceed 30 hours per semester, approximately. The average size of classes is between 20 and 40 students.

Other grant activity: Willingness to perform other duties such as thesis advising to master’s or PhD students.

Scholars selected for this award will be required to:
  • Advise and/or mentor students
  • Conduct a research project designated by the host institution
  • Conduct a research project of the applicant’s choosing
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses designated by the host institution
  • Teach graduate and/or undergraduate courses of the applicant’s choosing

Special Features

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering gathers together researchers of a broad range of areas, and the Fulbright scholar will have the opportunity to collaborate on research projects in one of the following areas: Environmental Resources; Security and Climate Change; Mechanics; Materials and Smart Structures; Surveying, Planning, and Design for Sustainable Places; Architectural Sciences; Modelling and Simulation in Engineering; and Sciences, Energy, and Green Technologies. Further information on the research areas can be found on the Department’s website.

The Department is composed of around 70 professors and research fellows, most of whom come from research backgrounds in major universities and research centers worldwide.

The Department has several research labs, which cover the most significant research topics mentioned above.
