Grant Activity

Postdoctoral fellows undertaking original research, publishing research findings, developing and expanding personal research networks and preparing for research-intensive careers within and beyond academia.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.

Grant Dates

Full academic year grants preferred. Nine-month grants start in August or September of 2020. One semester grants must correspond to the host institution´s academic calendar, to start in August or September 2020 or January of 2021. All grants must be completed by June 30, 2021. 

Locations

COMEXUS, the Fulbright Commission in Mexico, follows the recommendations of both the Mexican government and the U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories when considering host affiliations for US Fulbright grantees in Mexico. Affiliations may be restricted in certain states or areas of Mexico, depending on these recommendations. Please see the U.S. Department Travel Advisories Webpage for information.

Specializations

All disciplines will be considered with the exception of medicine, veterinary medicine and dentistry. The COMEXUS Board has noted STEM fields as priority disciplines for Mexico. Medical sciences that DO NOT include patient contact will be considered. COMEXUS is also interested in projects focused on public policy and health initiatives, and also has a long history of supporting projects in the arts that further dialogue and contact between the arts communities of Mexico and the United States.

Special Features

Postdoctoral scholars receive a monthly stipend and maintenance fee, as well as one round trip airfare not to exceed $1,000, and up to $750 reimbursement for educational material donated to either the host institution or research site.
