Award Activity

This award is to support postdoctoral fellows undertaking original research, working to publish research findings, developing and expanding personal research networks and preparing for research-intensive careers, especially within academia.

Award Length
Three to nine months
Award Dates

Full academic year grants preferred. Nine-month grants start in August or September 2021. One semester grants must correspond to the host institution´s academic calendar, to start in August or September or January. All grants must be completed by June 30, 2022. 


Applications or affiliations located in areas where there is a level 4 U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory in effect will NOT be considered. See the U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories webpage for further information.

Areas of Interest

The Board of the Fulbright Commission in Mexico (COMEXUS) has noted STEM fields as priority disciplines for Mexico. COMEXUS is also interested in projects focused on public policy and health initiatives and has a long history of supporting projects in the arts that further dialogue and contact between the arts communities of Mexico and the United States.

Application Deadline

Research includes activities involving scientific research, qualitative research, quantitative research, and practice-based research, including artistic research. Research can take place in locations such as the laboratory, the field, the archives, or an artist residency. It can be experimental, clinical, or applied. It can include examining policies, systems, theories, methods, interactions, and works of art and music, with the objective to evaluate or develop new knowledge or works. Quantifiable (tangible) outcomes can include publications (books, journal articles, scripts, etc.), conference presentations, artistic and musical compositions, exhibitions, performances, films, and patents.
