Grant Activity

Postdoctoral fellows are recent graduates undertaking original research, publishing research findings, developing and expanding personal research networks and preparing for research-intensive careers within and beyond academia.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary research or teaching activities‎.

Grant Dates

Full academic year grants preferred. Ten month grants start in August 2018. One semester grants must correspond to the host institution´s academic calendar. All grants must be completed by June 30, 2019. Applicants should email IIE/CIES if they are proposing a grant less than 9 months in duration.

COMEXUS, the Fulbright Commission in Mexico, follows the recommendations of both the Mexican government and the U.S. Embassy Travel Warnings when considering host affiliations for US Fulbright grantees in Mexico. Affiliations may be restricted in certain states or areas of Mexico, depending on these recommendations. Please see detailed travel warning information.

Specializations

The COMEXUS Board has noted STEM fields as priority disciplines for Mexico. Although all disciplines will be considered, research in STEM fields (excluding medicine, veterinary medicine and dentistry) will be given priority. Medical sciences that DO NOT include patient contact will be considered. Public policy and health initiatives are also given special consideration.

Special Features

Postdoctoral scholars receive a monthly stipend and maintenance fee, as well as one round trip airfare not to exceed $1,000, and up to $750 reimbursement for educational material donated to either the Host institution or research site.
