Award Activity

This award allows the Scholar to conduct research for a period of three to six months in any subject within the Faculties of Science and Engineering and Medicine and Dentistry at Queen Mary, University of London.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities.

Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK's leading research-focused higher education institutions. With approximately 25,000 students, 4,000 staff and an annual turnover of £400m, it is one of the biggest University of London colleges.

Queen Mary is one of 24 leading UK universities represented by the Russell Group, committed to maintaining the very best research, an outstanding teaching and learning experience, excellent graduate employability and unrivalled links with business and the public sector. The institution has five campuses in London, with the main campus at Mile End in east London.

Scholars selected for this award will be required to:
  • Advise and/or mentor students
  • Conduct a research project designated by the host institution
  • Conduct a research project of the applicant’s choosing
Award Length
Three months to nine month, depending on host department.

Grants may begin anytime after September 1, 2022, but before April 1, 2023.

While this award is open to any project in the disciplines listed above, there is interest in scholars who are in these particular specialty areas.

Schools in the Faculties of Science and Engineering and Medicine and Dentistry welcome applications.

This award is not supported by Faculties in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; as such, applications in the Humanities and Social Sciences are not eligible.

Within the Faculties of Science and Engineering and Medicine and Dentistry, applications are sought in all disciplines and related specializations.

Research includes activities involving scientific research, qualitative research, quantitative research, and practice-based research, including artistic research. Research can take place in locations such as the laboratory, the field, the archives, or an artist residency. It can be experimental, clinical, or applied. It can include examining policies, systems, theories, methods, interactions, and works of art and music, with the objective to evaluate or develop new knowledge or works. Quantifiable (tangible) outcomes can include publications (books, journal articles, scripts, etc.), conference presentations, artistic and musical compositions, exhibitions, performances, films, and patents.
