Grant Activity

Duties will vary depending on the host institute, but they should include teaching and research activities in the field of earth science.

Teaching plans should be developed in collaboration with the host institute and point of contact. Topics may be beyond the curriculum currently provided, but they should complement the existing program.

Applicants should be aware of the resources available at the host institute (or partner institutes/centers) for both teaching and research.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.

Grant Dates

One-semester grants must begin in either September 2019 or January 2020; two-semester grants must begin in September 2019.

Locations

Scholars may affiliate with the Geological Survey of Ireland (GSI) or with any appropriate university in Ireland.

Applicants intending to base themselves at the GSI will be expected to support teaching programs in one or more Irish Higher Education Institutes (e.g. universities). The GSI will also support lecturers/researchers visiting Geoscience departments in Irish Higher Education Institutes.
