Award Activity

Conduct research in area of specialization in universities and research centers in the Hauts-de-France region including the following cities: Lille, Amiens, Lens and Valenciennes.


Award Length
Up to 12 months for traditional grant, possibility to extend for an additional year through regional council
Award Dates

Grants may begin any time after September 2021.


Hauts-de-France universities or research centers. Possible cities include: Lille, Amiens, Lens and Valenciennes. Grantees are expected to reside in the region of the award.

Areas of Interest

The Hauts-de-France region welcomes candidates in the hard and social sciences as well as the humanities, including Planet, Health and Intelligence issues. The priority areas for the region are multidisciplinary projects including humanities and involving crosscutting fields in the following areas: Biology and Health; Food and Bioeconomy; Physics, Chemistry and Materials sciences; Mathematics; Computer Science; Energy and the Third Industrial Revolution REV3 (Climate and Energy Transition); Transport (Rail and New Cars); Digital, Image and Cognitive Science, linked with the smart specialization strategy of the Region. 

Application Deadline

Research includes activities involving scientific research, qualitative research, quantitative research, and practice-based research, including artistic research. Research can take place in locations such as the laboratory, the field, the archives, or an artist residency. It can be experimental, clinical, or applied. It can include examining policies, systems, theories, methods, interactions, and works of art and music, with the objective to evaluate or develop new knowledge or works. Quantifiable (tangible) outcomes can include publications (books, journal articles, scripts, etc.), conference presentations, artistic and musical compositions, exhibitions, performances, films, and patents.
