Grant Activity

Only applications in the following disciplines will be considered: Entrepreneurship; Special Education; Social Work; Journalism and Media Studies; Information Technology; Radiography/Radiation Therapy; and Nursing.

The grant activity that COSTAATT expects the grantee to conduct depends on the field of the grantee, as outlined below:

Entrepreneurship: Teach upper level courses for the Bachelor's of Business Administration program in Management and Entrepreneurship. Design and deliver professional development workshops and seminars for faculty in research and publication in entrepreneurship. Mentor and guide faculty in undertaking case study research in small, medium and family enterprises (SMEs) in Trinidad and Tobago. Ph.D. or MBA with significant experience in teaching entrepreneurship at undergraduate level and in research (especially case studies) is required.

Special Education: Teach upper level courses for the Bachelor's of Education program for Early Childhood Care and Education with a Special Education focus. Assist the management of the College in addressing the requirements for facilitating tertiary education access for persons with disabilities in the context of the development of its 2015-2025 Master Plan. Design and deliver professional development workshops and seminars for faculty and staff in respect of delivering educational programs and services to students with disabilities. Ph.D. in Special Education with experience in teaching in undergraduate programs, curriculum design and development, assessment, policy development and implementation, grant writing and advising on infrastructural requirements for supporting persons with disabilitities is required.

Social Work: Teach upper level courses for the Bachelor's of Social Work program. Participate in curriculum review and revision and assist faculty in the design of an outcomes assessment project and related research projects. Master’s degree in Social Work with at least six years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level and experience in clinical supervision or a Ph.D. in Social Work with experience in curriculum design and development, assessment, and program accreditation is required.

Journalism: Teach upper level courses for the Bachelor's of Arts degree program in Journalism and Media Studies. Assist the Dean of the School of Journalism and Media Studies in the credentialing of practicing journalists with significant work experience who do not have formal professional qualifications. Design and deliver professional development workshops and seminars for faculty and general public in high priority areas of the practice of journalism. Ph.D. in Journalism and/or Media studies with at least ten years of experience in teaching in undergraduate programs, curriculum design and development, assessment and grant writing is required.

Information Technology: Teach upper level courses for the Bachelor's of Science degree program in Information Technology. Assist in curriculum review and revision and in the design of an outcomes assessment project in preparation for re-accreditation in 2018-19, and assist the faculty in the design of related research projects. Design and deliver professional development workshops and seminars for IT faculty and general public. Ph.D. in Computer Science/Information Technology, with experience in curriculum design and development, assessment and grant writing is required. Applicants with a master’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology with at least six years of teaching experience at undergraduate level and prior industry experience at managerial level are also welcome to apply.

Radiography/Radiation Therapy: Teach upper level courses for the Bachelor's of Science Radiography degree program. Assist in review of the curriculum and in the design of an outcomes assessment project in preparation for re-accreditation in 2018-19. Assist the Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences with credentialing of practicing radiographers who do not possess a bachelor’s degree, so as to expand the pool of faculty qualified to teach the lower level courses. Design and deliver professional development workshops and courses to full-time and part-time faculty. Experience in clinical supervision or a Ph.D. in Radiology/Radiological Sciences with at least six years of teaching experience in undergraduate radiography or radiation therapy programs is required. Applicants with a master’s degree in Radiography with at least six years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level are also welcome to apply.

Nursing: Teach upper level courses for the Bachelor's of Science program in Nursing. Assist in the review of the curriculum and in the design of an outcomes assessment project in preparation for program accreditation with the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLAC). Work with the Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, the Department Chair and the faculty in the design of a post-graduate diploma in nursing to expand the pool of nursing faculty qualified to teach in the bachelor’s degree program. Experience in clinical supervision or a Ph.D. in Nursing Education with at least ten years of teaching experience and experience in curriculum development, program assessment and program accreditation is required. Applicants with a master’s degree of Nursing with at least ten years of teaching experience at undergraduate level are also welcome to apply.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary research or teaching activities‎.
