Grant Activity

The successful candidate will spend one semester researching or researching/teaching on transatlantic security studies at the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium), the Brussels office of the German Marshall Fund (GMF) or a European university/think tank. The candidate will receive administrative support, as needed, from the local Fulbright office and will be invited to attend the Belgian Fulbright Commission’s annual EU/NATO seminar, which offers an opportunity to visit NATO headquarters.

This unique award allows U.S. candidates to delve deeper into NATO security interests while experiencing the subject matter firsthand through living and working in another cultural community.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary research or teaching activities‎.
