The successful candidate will spend one semester researching or researching/teaching on transatlantic security studies at a European university or think tank; popular options for applicants include the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium) and the Brussels office of the German Marshall Fund (GMF). This unique award allows U.S. candidates to delve deeper into NATO security interests while experiencing the subject matter firsthand through living and working in another cultural community.
