Research in the College is often multidisciplinary in nature and this is reflected in the number of centers and institutes that promote interdisciplinary perspectives and approaches in the College, including ISS21, a research institute in the social sciences and CASiLaC in the humanities. The College offers the possibility of working in an environment with comprehensive coverage of subjects in the humanities and social sciences and aims to provide a range of support to individuals seeking to consolidate and extend their profiles as individual researchers.The College welcomes awards that will contribute towards the University strategic plan to develop research excellence and (inter)disciplinary innovation in engaged and impactful research activities and practices.

While this award is open to any project in the disciplines listed above, there is interest in scholars who are in these particular specialty areas.

The College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences is comprised of 10 schools (Applied Psychology; Applied Social Studies; Education; English; Geography and Archaeology; History; Irish Learning; Languages, Literatures and Cultures; Music and Theatre; Sociology, Philosophy, Criminology, Government and Politics) and a graduate school.
