Grant Activity

Teach an undergraduate course on sustainable agriculture (6 ECTS) and participate in other undergraduate courses with short seminars. Average class size is 20 students. 

Participate in development of a new undergraduate program on sustainable resource management. Conduct a short course (10 h) for faculty members and university teachers from other Icelandic universities that work on agriculture and sustainability. 

Possibly assist MS students in the field on their projects. 

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.

Special Features

The faculty has research facilities with 60 cows and 300 sheep, as well as large outdoor fields and geothermal green houses for experimental cultivation. Furthermore, the Hvanneyri campus is located at a Ramsar site with easy access to diverse wet- and grasslands. We have a small molecular biology lab, soil lab and other research facilities. Our researchers do field work around Iceland and vehicles and other equipment for such work is available. 

It is possible to provide housing at the Hvanneyri campus, which is very family-friendly. AUI is closely connected to other public universities in Iceland and the applicant has the opportunity to work with researchers not only at our faculty, but also with for example the University of Iceland.
