Grant Activity

The visiting scholar would be expected to undertake a defined program of research in the school for a 3-12 month period.  It would be expected that the scholar would participate in or attend most school activities during this period (e.g. seminars, conferences etc.). They would interact with other research staff in the school; additionally, the scholar would have the opportunity to give lectures/seminars in DIAS/local universities. The opportunities available for the seleted scholar would serve as an ideal sabbatical opportunity.

In addition to being a prestigious academic exchange program, the Fulbright Program is designed to expand and strengthen relationships between the people of the United States and citizens of other nations and to promote international understanding and cooperation. To support this mission, Fulbright Scholars will be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and otherwise engage with the host community, in addition to their primary activities‎.

The School of Theoretical Physics of the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies invites applications for Fulbright fellowships. Applications are welcome from candidates in all fields of theoretical and mathematical physics. Preference would be given to candidates with a strong research record especially in gauge/gravity, lattice gauge theory or non-commutative geometry, integrable systems, string and M-theory, causal set theory, theoretical cosmology and conformal field theory.
